Zombie films have increased in popularity since the release of the first recognised zombie feature film ‘White Zombie’ by Victor Halperin in 1932. Zombie films are now accepted as a distinct sub-genre of the horror film genre and often crossover into other genres such as science fiction, action and comedy films.
It almost seems strange to talk of Zombie classics but there have been a few now over the years. Night of the Living Dead is probably still the zombie film quoted as being the benchmark against which others are measured.
Zombie films have however come a long way and this has been shown to be the case with the recent offering World War Z starring Brad Pitt which was a big movie on a big budget that really did put Zombie productions in the mainstream.
